Plans

Proverbs 16:1
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

Proverbs 16:9
The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his step.

We all make plans. We all know what we want to do and where we want to be by a certain age. The thing I have found is that my plan does not always line up with God's plan and I desperately want to be in God's plan but it's really hard to let go of my plan! This is a picture that shows my main focus the last nine years of my life. To be honest with you when I took my first teaching job at Douglass Valley I did not expect to spend nine years there and for many years I was discontent. Staying there was not my plan for my life and I wanted to do something more. However by the last few years God had given me a love for it and had shown me that this was His plan for me.

Just when I finally got comfortable with that being God's plan for me, He brought me to a place where I could pursue what I had always thought was His original plan for me. Let me tell you its been hard and yet God has provided every step of the way, and that's how I know this is what He wants for me right now. So tomorrow, August 15th, is a big day for me. Not only is it my 33rd birthday, but its also the day that I start teaching somewhere other than Douglass Valley, the students will be secondary, the main class will be health (pray for me!!!) and the location will be half way around the world. This is what God has planned for me now and I need to learn to trust Him, rest in His plan and focus on the work He has for me here. This year will be different but good, I have already run into so many frustrations and quite honestly have not been content. So as this post comes to an end I ask that you pray for me, pray that I will follow God's plan with joy and love for all who come across my path. Pray for my students (especially those taking health!)

Thank you all for the prayers and support so far in this adventure!

Grace International School, Chiang Mai, Thailand

I have been called to go to Chiang Mai, Thailand to teach secondary Physical Education and Health.

Grace International School provides education for children of Christian workers in Southeast Asia and beyond. These workers plant churches, fight human trafficking, help translate the Bible, provide medical relief and so much more. I am going because I believe that Christian workers need people who will support them and their families as they do the work God has called them to.

As Galatians 6:10 says, "therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people especially to those who belong to the family of believers." God has called me to go and support the family of believers in Thailand.

One important aspect of coming alongside these workers is teaching and discipling their children. As a teacher at Grace I will have the opportunity to teach their students not only PE but even more than that. I will be able to relate PE and health concepts to living with Christ and I will be able to read the Bible, study the Bible, pray with the students and encourage them as they prepare to face a confusing world.

God has been preparing me for this for a long time. He has called me to teach PE and I have been teaching for the last nine years. He has given me opportunities to lead Bible studies and youth groups as well as to disciple young people by studying the Bible with them and living life together. He has also called me on mission trips to many different countries including Thailand, where I have had the opportunity to share the gospel, help run sports camps, and help inform people about human trafficking.

Please be in prayer for me as I go out on this adventure! God is at work and I am excited to be a part of His team!

To keep costs low for the families of the students I will be raising support to go work at this school! Please pray about partnering with me in ministry! If you would like to make a monthly or single donation please visit https://give.teachbeyond.org/support/amy-george/.
